The character arc of Rob Dial
A life drawn by Character Arc from the public record
Born in the United States, in a year no public source reached publishes. Between then and now sit a franchise owned and operated by the age of twenty three, more than two thousand sales representatives trained within three years, the discovery that what held his employees back was what they believed about themselves, a teaching programme built out of that and sold to other companies, a podcast started in 2015 that reached the top of the motivational charts, and an audience counted in the hundreds of millions of downloads. The line below draws the story so far, in order.

Who is Rob Dial?
He was training the technique. The problem was underneath it.
The first part of his working life is straightforwardly commercial. By the age of twenty three he owned and operated a franchise, and within three years he had trained more than two thousand sales representatives. That is a lot of people, very young, in a business where the metrics are brutal and public.
The interesting part is what he noticed while doing it. Training two thousand people in the same skills, he found the thing separating those who did well from those who did not was not technique at all. It was what they believed about themselves, and what they had decided in advance they could not do. So he started working on that instead, and turned it into a teaching programme, which he then sold to other companies to help their sales forces.
In 2015 he started a podcast, which reached the top of the motivational charts and is now called The Mindset Mentor. By his own published figures it has passed three hundred and fifty million downloads and sits in the global top hundred, with video views in the billions and a social audience in the millions. Those figures come from his own pages and from speaking biographies, and are not independently audited.
What he actually does on it is less obvious than the numbers suggest. He blends neurology, neurobiology, psychology, early childhood development and cognitive behavioural therapy, so that a listener can understand how their brain and their body work together. It is a self-development show built out of the research, which is not what the genre usually offers, and it came from a man who found out on a sales floor that the technique was never the problem.
