Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us.
Updated on 12 Sep 2026
1. Who we are, and what this is
Character Arc is operated by Limitless Lumens Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore, registration 202344388K, at 68 Circular Road, #02-01, Singapore 049422. When these terms say we or us, that's the company. When they say you, that's you, the member.
These terms are the agreement between us. They cover the Character Arc app, the marketing site, and anything else we run under this name. By creating an account you're agreeing to them, and if you don't agree, don't create one.
Two other documents sit alongside this one and form part of the same agreement: the Privacy Policy, which covers your data, and the Wellbeing Note, which covers what this app is and isn't. Please read that second one properly. It's short, and it matters more than anything here.
2. Who can use it
You need to be 16 or older. By creating an account you're confirming you are, and that nothing stops you entering into this agreement where you live.
If you're 16 or 17, some settings are more protective by default. Those are described in the Privacy Policy and you don't have to do anything to get them.
3. Your account
One account each, and it's yours alone. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, use an address you actually control, and tell us if you think someone else has got in.
What happens on your account is your responsibility, so don't share access with anyone. If you lose access to your email, you may lose access to your arc, and there may be nothing we can do about it.
4. What you can do with Character Arc
We give you permission to use the app for your own personal reflection, for as long as your account is open and you're keeping to these terms. That permission is yours alone. You can't transfer it, sell it, rent it, or let someone else use your account.
You can't copy the app, take it apart to see how it works, get around its technical limits, scrape it, or build a competing product out of it. You can't use it commercially, resell access, or run it on behalf of other people, unless we've agreed that in writing.
5. What you write stays yours
Your moments, reflections, quests, evidence, letters, Crossroads and everything else you write belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of any of it, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train anything.
To run the app we need narrow permission to handle it: to store it, back it up, secure it, and show it back to you. That's the whole of it. The permission lasts while your account is open and ends when you delete it, apart from backup copies that clear on the ordinary cycle described in the Privacy Policy.
If you publish a share page, you're giving us the additional permission needed to host it and show it to whoever has the link, for as long as it stays published.
You can ask for a copy of everything at any time. Write to [email protected] and we'll prepare one for you.
6. What's ours
Everything else belongs to us: the app itself, the models and their content, the quests, the frameworks, the writing, the design, the arc mechanic, the name Character Arc and the logo. Nothing in these terms gives you rights over any of it beyond using the app as described.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, thank you, and we may use it freely without owing you anything for it. That's not us claiming your work, it's just so a good suggestion doesn't create a complication later.
7. How to behave here
Character Arc is mostly private, so most of this only bites when you publish something. Still, the rules are simple.
Don't use the app to break the law. Don't try to reach another member's data, attack the service, get around security, or overload it. Don't impersonate anyone. Don't upload anything containing malware.
When you publish a share page or a share card, don't publish anything that's hateful, harassing, threatening, or bullying. Nothing sexual involving anyone under 18. Nothing that reveals private details about another person without their agreement. Nothing that infringes someone else's copyright. Nothing pretending to be someone you're not.
If you break these rules we may remove what you published, suspend your account, or close it. Where it's serious we may do that without warning.
8. Crossroads
Crossroads gives you somewhere to lay out a decision you're weighing. You name the decision, you write every option, and you choose.
The app doesn't generate options for you, doesn't rank or score them, doesn't recommend one, and doesn't predict what any of them leads to. Nothing it shows you is a suggestion from us or advice of any kind.
Whatever you decide, you're deciding it yourself, of your own free will, and you're responsible for what follows. We're not liable for any decision you make or don't make.
9. Mirror
Section held until Mirror ships.
Mirror looks at reflections and emotions you've already logged and describes patterns it finds there. It reports what's in your own record and nothing more.
What it shows you isn't advice of any kind, medical, psychological, legal, financial or otherwise. It isn't a diagnosis, an assessment of your mental health, or a prediction. It can be incomplete and it can be wrong. Weigh it against what you already know about yourself.
Anything you do after reading it is your decision and your responsibility, and we're not liable for it. You can turn Mirror off in Settings whenever you like.
10. Sharing, and share pages
Nothing is public unless you publish it. There's no feed, no comments and no followers.
When you publish a share card or a share page, you're the author and the publisher. The words are yours, the decision to publish is yours, and you're responsible for both. We supply the structure, the styling and the hosting.
We don't review what members publish before it goes out, and nothing published here is endorsed by us or represents our views.
Published means public. Anyone with the link can read it, search engines may index it, and other people can copy or screenshot it. You can unpublish a page and we'll take it off our servers, though we can't reach copies that already exist elsewhere.
If something published here needs reporting, write to [email protected]. We look at every report, we act on the ones that need it, and we'll explain our decision. Copyright complaints have their own route in the Copyright and Content Policy.
11. Shared patterns
If you turn on shared patterns in Settings, the numbers your arc produces join a pooled picture that every member can see, and you get to see it too. Things like the share of members working on a given area, or how feelings tend to change across a particular kind of quest.
Everything in that pool is grouped and stripped of anything pointing back to you, and a group smaller than five people is never shown. Your words are never included. It's off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.
12. Testimonials
If you choose to submit a testimonial in the app, you're giving us permission to publish it: on our website, in email, on social media, in videos and in advertising, anywhere in the world, without payment to you. We'll show it with whatever we told you at the time you submitted it.
You can withdraw a testimonial by writing to [email protected]. We'll take it off our own site and stop using it in anything new within 30 days. We can't recall things already printed, posted or published elsewhere, so please submit one only if you're comfortable with that.
Please only write what's true for you. We don't pay for testimonials, and if that ever changes we'll say so plainly wherever they appear.
13. Invites and referrals
You can invite people, and the link carries a code so we know the invite came from you. It never identifies the person who opens it, and you're only ever shown a count.
Every three people who genuinely begin an arc of their own earns you a month of Visionary, up to twelve months in any twelve. Genuinely begin is the whole of it: they confirm their email address, set their arc up, and come back to use it on separate days. A signup that goes nowhere counts for nothing, and the month is given when that threshold is crossed rather than when somebody joins. When a month ends you return to Seeker and nothing you made during it is taken away.
Don't spam anyone, buy traffic, or create accounts to inflate your own numbers. If we see that, we'll void whatever it earned, and we may remove a month already given. If you want to promote Character Arc commercially, that's the Partner Program and it has its own agreement.
14. Paid links
Some quotes and concepts carry paid links to books, courses or tools, shown only when you press the paid links button. We may earn a commission if you buy something through one.
They're matched to the content on the page, never to you. Nothing about your moments, reflections, feelings or Areas is used to choose them. We don't control those products, we're not responsible for them, and buying one is between you and whoever sells it.
15. Experience, levels and badges
Experience, levels and badges are part of the game. They don't have monetary value, you can't exchange them for anything, you can't transfer or sell them, and they aren't property.
We may adjust how they work as the app develops. If a change would materially reduce what you've earned, we'll tell you first.
16. Visionary, payment and refunds
Character Arc has a free tier and a paid membership called Visionary. Prices, what's included, renewal, cancellation and refunds are all set out in the Subscription, Billing and Refund Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
In short: a paid membership renews automatically until you cancel, you can cancel any time from Settings and it takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and we'll always tell you before a price changes. Payments run through Stripe and we never see your card.
If you stop paying, you keep your account and your arc. You return to Seeker, and the Visionary features switch off.
Everything you made while you were a Visionary stays yours and stays visible, including anything created with a Visionary feature. What changes is that you can't use that feature to make something new until you're on Visionary again.
17. This isn't therapy or advice
Character Arc is a self-directed reflection tool. It isn't therapy, counselling, medical care, or professional advice of any kind, and using it doesn't create any professional relationship between us. It can't help in a crisis.
The Wellbeing Note sets this out in full and forms part of this agreement. Please read it.
18. The app as it is
We work hard on Character Arc and we can't promise it'll be perfect. It's provided as it is and as it's available, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
We don't promise the app will always be available, always work without errors, always be free of bugs, or that anything in it will produce a particular result for you. We may change features, add them, or remove them. If we're removing something significant, we'll tell you first where we can.
If you're a consumer, you may have rights under your local law that can't be excluded. Nothing here takes those away.
19. What we're responsible for, and what we're not
Some things can never be limited, and we're not trying to: death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and anything else the law says can't be excluded.
Beyond that, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses. That includes lost profits, lost opportunities, lost data, or any decision you made using the app.
Where we are liable, the most we'll owe you in total is whatever you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. If you haven't paid us anything, we won't owe you money.
If you're a consumer somewhere that limits how far this can go, these limits apply only as far as your local law allows.
20. If you cause us a problem
If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did, what you published, or a breach of these terms by you, you'll cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it. We'll tell you promptly if that happens and give you the chance to be involved.
21. Ending things
You can close your account any time from Settings. Deletion is real and it can't be undone.
We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we're required to by law, or if keeping it open would put other members or the service at risk. Unless it's serious or urgent we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right. If we close a paid account and you haven't done anything wrong, we'll refund the unused part.
When an account ends, your permission to use the app ends with it. Sections 5, 6, 18, 19, 20, 23 and 24 carry on afterwards.
22. When these terms change
If we change something that matters, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect and ask you to agree before you carry on using the app. If you'd rather not agree, you can close your account and we'll refund the unused part of anything you've paid.
Smaller changes, like fixing wording or updating an address, just get a new date at the top. We keep every version we've published, and you can ask us for any of them at any time.
Changes never apply backwards. Whatever version was live when something happened is the version that governs it.
23. Law, and what happens if we disagree
Talk to us first. Most things are fixable. Write to [email protected] and give us 30 days. Most disputes end here.
If that doesn't work. These terms are governed by the law of Singapore. Any dispute that isn't resolved goes to arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, in Singapore, in English, under its rules in force at the time. One arbitrator. The decision is final.
One at a time. Claims are brought individually, not as a class, a group, or on behalf of anyone else.
Unless you're a consumer somewhere that says otherwise. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else whose law gives consumers the right to bring a claim in their own courts, you keep that right and this section doesn't take it away. You also keep every mandatory protection your local consumer law gives you.
Nothing here stops you complaining to a regulator, including your data protection authority.
23a. Email from us
Account emails come with the account: confirming your address, a reminder you set yourself, notice before a payment or a renewal, a receipt, and notice when these terms change. You can't switch those off while you hold an account, because they're how we keep our side of this agreement.
Updates are the other kind: occasional email about Character Arc itself. They start when you create an account, you can turn them off at signup, and you can turn them off any time afterwards in Settings. Stopping them changes nothing else about your account.
24. Odds and ends
If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still stands.
These terms, with the Privacy Policy, the Wellbeing Note and the Subscription Policy, are the whole agreement between us. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
We may transfer this agreement if the business is sold or reorganised, and your rights won't be reduced by that. You can't transfer it.
Neither of us is responsible for failures caused by things genuinely outside our control.
We'll contact you at your account email. You can reach us at [email protected], or by post at 68 Circular Road, #02-01, Singapore 049422.
25. If you're using an app store version
Section held until Character Arc ships to the App Store or Google Play.
If you got the app from Apple or Google, their terms apply as well as these. The agreement is with us and not with them, they're not responsible for the app or for support, and any claim about the app goes to us. Apple and Google can enforce these terms as third parties.
