What Character Arc is, and what it isn't.

Character Arc is a tool for reflection. You record your own moments, write your own words, and decide your own actions.
It isn't therapy, counselling, or medical care, and nothing in it is advice of any kind. It can't help in a crisis. If you're in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line now.
Everything you do here is your own decision, and you're responsible for what you choose.

1. What this is
Character Arc is a self-directed tool for noticing your own patterns. You record moments that mattered, you rate how they felt, you test beliefs you hold about yourself, and you write down what you find. The app holds the structure. You supply everything else.
It's built on ideas from psychology and behavioural science, and it's a product rather than a practice. Reading about how a brain forms a belief isn't the same as someone qualified looking at yours.
2. What this is not
Character Arc is not therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, psychiatric care, or medical treatment of any kind. Using it doesn't create a therapeutic, clinical, or professional relationship between you and this company or anyone connected to it.
Nobody here is your therapist, doctor, counsellor, lawyer, or financial adviser, and nothing in the app is a substitute for one.
3. No advice, and no claims
Nothing in Character Arc is medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal, financial, tax, or professional advice. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any condition, and nothing here assesses or predicts your mental health.
We make no claim that using this app will produce any particular result. What people get from it varies, and any story you read from another member is their experience rather than a promise about yours.
4. Your decisions are yours
Everything you do in Character Arc, and everything you do because of it, is your own decision made by your own free will. You're responsible for those decisions and for what follows from them, and this company isn't liable for any action you take or don't take.
Weigh what you find here against your own experience, and get qualified help when something needs it.
5. Crossroads
Crossroads gives you somewhere to lay out a decision you're weighing. You name the decision, you write every option, and you choose.
The app doesn't generate options for you, doesn't rank or score them, doesn't recommend one, and doesn't predict what any of them will lead to. Nothing it shows you is a recommendation. The choice is yours, made freely, and so is the responsibility for it.
6. Mirror
Section held until Mirror ships. Also shown in-product the first time a member opens it.
Mirror looks at what you've already recorded, your reflections and the emotions you logged, and describes patterns it finds there. It reports what's in your own record and nothing more.
What it shows you isn't advice, isn't a diagnosis, isn't an assessment of your mental health, and isn't a prediction. It can be incomplete, and it can be wrong. Read it as one observation to weigh against what you already know about yourself.
Anything you decide to do after reading it is your decision, and this company isn't liable for it. You can turn Mirror off in Settings whenever you like.
7. This isn't for a crisis
Character Arc can't help in an emergency and nobody monitors what you write. If you're in immediate danger, thinking about harming yourself, or worried about someone else, contact your local emergency services straight away.

8. Who this is for
Character Arc is for people aged 16 and over. You need to be 16 or older to hold an account, and by creating one you confirm you are.
