Your data
It is yours, and here is exactly what that means.
The formal Privacy Policy is the binding document. This page is the same thing said in a way you can actually read.
What is stored
Your date of birth, because it is where your line starts. The moments you add, with their date, kind, and how they landed. Your areas, quests, identities and ledger entries. Anything you write in a reflection, or in a letter to your future self. Your email address and display name.
Where it lives
In a database in the European Union, on a per person basis, protected by row level security. That is a technical term for a simple guarantee: the database itself refuses a request for somebody else's rows. It is not the app being polite, it is the storage refusing.
Who can see it
You. Nobody at Character Arc can read your reflections or letters by default. Support sees structure, meaning dates, scores and areas, and only in aggregate, unless you explicitly grant access to a specific thing for a specific reason.
Sealed letters cannot be read by anyone, including us, until they open.
Taking it with you, or deleting it
One tap deletes the account and everything in it. It is not buried, it does not ask you to email anyone, and deletion is real rather than a flag on a row. A full copy of what you have written is yours whenever you ask: write to support and it is prepared for you, which takes about a day.
If you stop paying
Nothing is taken away. Every moment, the whole line and the ledger stay yours and stay readable. A membership adds depth on top of a record you already own.
How the app is measured
Since 06 August 2026 we use Google Analytics to understand how the site and the app are actually used, so what gets built next is based on something real. It is off until you say yes, you are asked once, and declining costs you nothing.
What is counted is behaviour, in categories: that a moment was logged and whether it was a milestone, a setback, an everyday moment or an intention; that a reflection was written; that a quest was created, embarked on, stepped or finished; which models get finished and how far through people get; which focus areas people pick; and the emotion words and intensities being reported, out of the fixed set the app offers.
What is never counted, never read and never sent: the words in your reflections, and anything whatsoever about your sealed letters. Not their contents, not when they open, not even that one exists. Also never sent: the titles of your moments, the belief or action in your quests, your evidence notes, and any focus area you named yourself, which is reported only as "custom" so the word you chose stays yours.
