What followed is one of the most consistent working actor's records in American film, largely in supporting parts: Murder One from 1995, for which he won a Primetime Emmy in 1998 for Winchell, The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, Julie and Julia in 2009, The Lovely Bones in the same year, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, Spotlight in 2015, Supernova in 2020 and Conclave in 2024.
That is forty years of good work in other people's films, and for most actors it would be the whole line. His is unusual because of what he started in his sixties.
