Who is Prajakta Koli?

She was born and brought up in Thane, went to school there, and took a bachelor's degree in mass media at a college in Mulund. Her father runs restaurants. Her career began as an intern at a Mumbai radio station, working as a radio jockey, and then she launched a YouTube channel called MostlySane in February 2015.
In 2016, on World Mental Health Day, she started a campaign about mental health, wellbeing and body shaming, and talked publicly about what had been said about her own body. The following May she wrote and released a rap song about it with an Indian rapper. In 2018 she was invited to the United Nations headquarters as an ambassador for a YouTube programme, and in 2019 a former chief executive of YouTube chose her interview series for her first ever conversation with an Indian creator, a series that also carried Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.
From July 2020 she began acting: a short film, then the lead in a Netflix romantic drama series that has run for years, a role in a major Hindi film in 2022, a mystery film in 2023, a horror series and a second Netflix series in 2025, and a debut in Marathi cinema that did well. She recorded a nine episode audio drama set in Sydney and voiced a Marvel character in Hindi. She wrote a romance novel that sold a hundred and fifty thousand copies in its first month.
She was on a thirty under thirty list in 2019 and was appointed a youth climate champion by a United Nations agency in India in January 2022. In July 2025 she became the first Indian content creator named on the TIME100 Creators list. In February 2025 she married the lawyer she had met when she was eighteen and he was twenty two, after thirteen years together.
