Who is Amanda Nguyen?

She graduated from Centennial High School in Corona, California in 2009 and from Harvard University in 2013. She has spoken publicly about being a survivor of sexual assault, and about what she found when she tried to use the system that was supposed to protect her. What she did about it is the line.

In November 2014 she founded Rise, a nonprofit, and started writing a bill. She met Senator Jeanne Shaheen in July 2015. The Sexual Assault Survivors' Rights Act was introduced to Congress in February 2016, passed unanimously through the Senate in May and unanimously through the House in September, and was signed into law that October. Unanimous passage of anything through both chambers is close to unheard of, and she was twenty four.

In February 2021 she posted a video calling for media coverage of violence against Asian Americans, which went round the world. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2019, received a Heinz Award for public policy in the same year, and was named Time Woman of the Year in 2022. On 14 April 2025 she flew on Blue Origin's NS-31 mission, becoming the first woman of Vietnamese heritage to go into space. It is an unusually wide line for somebody in their thirties.
